MentorFair ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information about you when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "App").

By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

• Account information: your name, email address, and profile photo when you sign up via email or Google Sign-In.
• Profile information: career interests, professional bio, areas of expertise, and availability (for mentors).
• Session request data: messages and proposed dates submitted when requesting or accepting a mentorship session.
• Chat messages: messages exchanged between mentors and mentees within the App.
• Usage data: device type, operating system, and general usage patterns collected automatically to improve the App.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account.
• Match mentees with mentors based on career interests and availability.
• Facilitate session requests and in-app communication between users.
• Send relevant notifications about session updates and messages.
• Improve, maintain, and secure the App.
• Respond to support requests and feedback.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in these circumstances:

• With other users: your public profile (name, photo, bio, expertise) is visible to other App users so mentees can discover and connect with mentors.
• With service providers: we use Google Firebase for authentication, data storage, and push notifications. Google's privacy policy governs their use of data.
• For legal reasons: if required by law or to protect the safety of our users or the public.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely in Google Firestore and Firebase Storage, which are hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure. We use Firebase Security Rules to restrict data access so that users can only read and write their own data.

While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and profile information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

6. Children's Privacy

MentorFair is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access and review the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your account and associated data.
• Withdraw consent for data processing where consent is the legal basis.

8. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with the following third-party services:

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you through the App or by email. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
